Face To Face (British TV Programme)
''Face to Face'' was a BBC interview television programme originally broadcast between 1959 and 1962, created and produced by Hugh Burnett, which ran for 35 episodes. The insightful and often probing style of the interviewer, former politician John Freeman, separated it from other programmes of the time. ''Face to Face'' was revived in 1989 with Jeremy Isaacs as the interviewer and ran until 1998. History BBC talks producer Hugh Burnett had the idea of a simple personal interview programme in the mid-1950s. It took two years to persuade Grace Wyndham Goldie (assistant head of talks television) to commission a programme. Burnett decided on John Freeman as the interviewer "because he was highly skilled at probing closely without causing offence"; he asked Freeman while walking around the BBC block at Lime Grove Studios, and Freeman agreed by the second lap. Hugh Burnett (producer)
Richard Hugh Burnett (21 July 1924 – 25 November 2011) was a British television producer and cartoonist. Biography Born in Sheffield, the son of a journalist who eventually became editor of the '' Methodist Recorder'', Burnett studied at the London School of Economics. After finishing his National Service serving in India with the Intelligence Corps, Burnett joined the BBC's Far Eastern Service at Bush House in 1949. ''Personal Call'', a radio series in which Burnett visited public figures of the day, was later developed into the series he produced for television, '' Face to Face'', which consisted of interviews by John Freeman with prominent people from around the world. Nicholas Henry Bourne, Baron Bourne of Aberystwyth (born 1 January 1952) is a Conservative Party politician who served as Leader of the Welsh Conservative Party and Member of the Welsh Assembly for Mid and West Wales from August 1999 until May 2011. Carwyn Jones
Carwyn Howell Jones, Baron Jones of Penybont, (born 21 March 1967), is a Welsh politician who served as First Minister of Wales and Leader of Welsh Labour from 2009 to 2018. Adrian Masters is a Welsh journalist, presenter, author and political moderator. He is currently the Political Editor at ITV Cymru Wales. James Naughtie
Alexander James Naughtie (surname pronounced ; born 9 August 1951) is a British radio presenter and journalist, known for presenting on BBC Radio 4. Sir Edward Montague Compton Mackenzie, (17 January 1883 – 30 November 1972) was a Scottish writer of fiction, biography, histories and a memoir, as well as a cultural commentator, raconteur and lifelong Scottish nationalist. Feliks Topolski Royal Academician, RA (14 August 1907 – 24 August 1989) was a Polish expressionist painter and draughtsman working primarily in the United Kingdom.
